Inclement Weather Policy for Online Courses
Below are the guidelines for BRTC’s Inclement Weather Policy for Online
Courses:
- Because the purpose of online
courses is to make courses available to students 24/7
and no on-campus attendance is allowed in these courses,
online courses
will not
be cancelled for inclement
weather, even when both campuses are closed. Students
and faculty are expected to access their courses just a
they would if the campuses were open.
- Only in weather emergencies such as
the ice storm of 2009 will this policy be amended. In
such severe cases, check Moodle or tune in to the radio
stations and KAIT.
- It is true that some students can
only access their course from locations other than their
homes. In such cases, students must institute their
contingency plan—their back-up plan for attending their
online courses in case their primary computer is
unavailable or out of service.
- In instances where BRTC is scheduled
to be closed in the Academic Calendar such as Spring
Break, Thanksgiving break, etc., the instructor may
dismiss online classes following the same schedule as
on-campus courses. Students are to check the course
syllabus or with their instructor.

Semester Instructions
Please access the
Beginning of the Semester DE
Instructions before you begin attempting your distance education
course. The instructions here will answer most of your
questions.

Dropping a DE Class
If you decide that you
do not want to be in a class after the class has already started, you
must call the Registrar, (870) 248-4015, or use
CampusConnect
to drop. The amount of tuition refund decreases each day that you
wait to drop.
