Opening an Archive
Please note that this document has 2 steps
After you determine how you want to use your
archive and where you want to put it, follow these steps to open your
archive.
Note:
If you want to copy only one or a few items from your archive into a class, read
Copying One Item Into a Class before
you continue with these instructions.
- Determine whether you want to put the material in a new class or in the
desired class.
- Open the class into which you wish to put the archived material. In
some cases, this may be the temporary class that has been set up for your
archive.
- Go to the Control Panel.
- Under Course Options on the bottom left-hand side, click on Import
Package.
- Under step #2 "Select a Package," browse your computer for the
location of the desired archive.
- Select that archive.
- Click Open.
- Under step #3 "Select Course Materials," determine if you want

Note:
If you have any of the same material in your current class as in your
archive, you will have duplicates after you finish your archive. Also,
your course navigation may change or be duplicated.
- Click Submit. You will receive a receipt that acknowledges that your archive was imported
successfully.
Note:
You can only open a Blackboard archive into a Blackboard class. You cannot
open the archive in any other software system.
Final Steps
- If you have imported your archive into the class which needs the material,
all you have to do is delete what you do or do not want.
Note:
You will not be deleting the items from the original archive. Those
items are still safely stored on your computer and will not be effected by
your deletion of items in your class.
